Product description:Chemical name of '4 - hydroxy - 3 - methoxy benzoic acid, molecular formula C8H8O4, molecular weight of 168.14, white needle crystal, no smell, can sublimate, don't break down. Melting point is 210 ℃. Soluble in ethanol, soluble in ether, slightly soluble in water. Vanillic acid and ferric chloride is not color. Method: to vanillin as raw material by oxidation (silver oxide) or alkali fusion (potassium hydroxide, below 240 ℃), or from part 3, 4 - dimethoxy benzoic acid methyl off. USES: as reagent, spices.
