Description:
Silver carbonate is the chemical compound having the formula Ag2CO3. This poorly soluble solid is yellow, but the typical samples are gray by the presence of elemental silver. It is sparingly soluble in water, like most Übergangsmetallcarbonate. Silver carbonate is used as a reagent in organic synthesis such as the Koenigs-Knorr reaction. It is also used to convert bromides into alcohols.
