Description: bicuculline is a competitive antagonist sensitive to light from GABA receptors. The effect of bicuculline is located mainly on the GABAA ionotropic receptors, in which they are ligand-dependent ion channels that are mainly related to the passage of chloride ions through the cell membrane and thus an inhibiting effect on the target neuron. These receptors are the main targets for benzodiazepines and related anxiolytic drugs.
