Dacarbazine (da-KAR-ba-zeen) (brand name DTIC DTIC-Dome as DIC or carboxamides known imidazole) is a chemotherapy antineoplastic drug in the treatment of various cancers, including malignant melanoma, Hodgkin's lymphoma, sarcoma, and cells of the pancreatic islets -Karzinom. Antineoplastic agents are drugs which interfere with cell growth and the formation of new tissue to interfere - in this case, the tumor tissue. These drugs are also known as cytostatic agents. Dacarbazine belongs to the family of chemicals known as alkylating agents. Dacarbazine is usually by injection (a shot) or intravenously (iv) administered under the direct supervision of a doctor or nurse.
