Octamethyl cyclotetrasiloxane
Physically based pharmacokinetic model was developed to describe the silicone component of octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane (D4) and their migration from breast implants filled with silicone gel intact or broken into surrounding tissue. D4 is a low molecular weight portion representative of silicone gel, which is soluble in biological fluids sufficient to migrate from the implant and the surrounding tissue. The simulations were performed to a representative of young adults (premenopausal) women and a mature (postmenopausal) women worst case conditions of exposure (ie complete rupture of the largest implant available, the maximum levels of D4 in silicon , the same solubility D4 in the chest on the base fabric and gels, and a number of breast tissue fat content). The results show that D4 is primarily eliminated by exhalation reaches highest concentration, short in the breast tissue of postmenopausal women representative. D4 maximum levels in breast tissue in this scenario, it was estimated that about 750 ppb deleted in 20 days, more than 90%. Thus, it is unlikely that the D4 will be determined in each tissue in a few weeks after receiving an implant, even if broken once, under the assumptions used in this model.
