What is Urease

Urease produced by many taxonomically different bacterial species, including the normal flora and nonpathogens. Further urease was detected as a powerful virulence factor of some species, including Proteus mirabilis, Staphylococcus saprophyticus, and Helicobacter pylori. Urease is essential for the metabolism and the virulence of H. pylori, is necessary for colonization of the gastric mucosa, and is a potent immunogen that induces a vigorous immune response. This enzyme is responsible for taxonomic identification and diagnosis and follow-up after treatment, and is a candidate vaccine. Urease is an interesting model for the study of metallo. Before the discovery of H. pylori, human gastric urease were destined "to happen." "We now know that the source of this remarkable protein is the bacterium that colonizes the gastric mucosa of man.
