Cent eighty-seven men with simple urethritis gonorrhea treated with spectinomycin hydrochloride at a dose of 2 g. administered intramuscularly. A rate of 3.2% failure was observed and no complications of therapy took place. In addition, the 310 strains of N. gonorrhoeae were tested for their sensitivity to penicillin and spectinomycin. All strains were sensitive to 20 pg. / Ml. Spectinomycin and vulnerability seemed raised to reduce resistance to penicillin. Greater impact resistance compared to penicillin G was observed in other parts of Canada than in similar studies.
