Selenium dioxide is the chemical compound of formula SeO2. The colorless solid is one of the most common of selenium compounds.
selenium dioxide gives the red color to glass: it is used in small amounts in order to counter the blue color with cobalt and impurities and (apparently) to provide a colorless glass. In larger amounts, there is a deep ruby red color.
Selenium dioxide is the active ingredient in cold-whitening solutions.
It is also used as toner for photographic development.
