A semisynthetic derivative of pristinamycin, a natural B streptogramins abundant type. Quinupristin binds to the bacterial 50S ribosome subunit, and inhibiting peptide chain of the longitudinal growth, and the extinction of the normal synthesis of bacterial protein. Quinupristin is effective especially against Gram-positive cocci.
